The inaugural season for the Dayton High School Indoor Guard ended this past Saturday at the Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championships. The team finished in second place and earned a silver medal and have received endless words of recognition and congratulations. Both Mr. Young, school Principal and Mr. Figeac, Head Band Director can not stop singing their praise, “It speaks volumes of the hard work and dedication our band members put forth in mastering their craft and representing our great school and community” said Mr. Figeac. The team has worked long hard hours from the start of the season in late November until their final performance. Starting out in near last place at their very first event, the team rose to the challenge and began a string of podium finishes and earned two third and two first place trophies prior to their silver medal performance. A special word of thank you is extended form the team and Mr. Figeac to our supportive administration  Mr. Kuhrt, DISD Superintendent; Mr. Young, DHS Principal  and especially to Ms. Strolberg, Kimmie Brown Elementary Principal for hosting the team’s practices in their gym. Next up for the team is recruiting and try-out camp during the month of April for next year’s marching band color guard and the start of a second season.
